I have been trying to find this out too. I would like to rent a Stalker, LA or LTIOriginally Posted by takenn0crap
But no luck so far.
JTW: for a few months in the past was renting out a few guns. Its just you had to pony up the deposit for the unit upfront so if you decided to keep the shiny new 3K gun, he was not out anything.
This is a pretty substantial first post.
Since the laser mimic was before my time here................can JTW rebut?
AFAIK: JTW deals in Laser Atlanta LIDAR guns. So I bet the tested what he had on hand............ but otherwise I'm open to reasonable explainations........
Ultralser: How do you know this alledged info about Laser Mimic and JTW?

I had a HUGE appology and explantion of the circumstances in the rd.net back alley, but it was deleted with the entire back alley catagory.
In a nut shell this is what happened:
1. I performed a laser jammer test of a new laser jammer that hit the market. It was manufacturer provided and this was disclosed, much like how the GoL tested the latest manufacturer provided jammers.
2. The jammer did awesome and continues to do an awesome, but mostly likely I was given a juiced or cherry picked jammer. Mouse and I even tested the laser mimic the same day we tested the AL to see if my old jammer still worked. It did and to a more then satisfactory results on the non-angled shots. At the 35 foot angle the laser mimic suffered miserably, like most jammers.
3. The mimic was later tested by Roy at SML and it didn't do as well as the jammer I tested.
4. After I found out I received a juiced unit I issued an apology, a retraction of all my recommendations for the product, and never recommened it to anyone.
The bottom line is I'm not psychic and their was no way of me knowing that I got a juiced or cherry picked unit. Kinda hard to burn someone at the stake for testing a laser mimic when I fully disclosed it was from the manufacturer. I always said that from the beginning.
I didn't shoot the headlights because a scion TC is extremely hard to mount LED jammers too. I had to mount the two jammers near the bottom of the car at that time, further than the 18" radius Roy and everyone recommends you. A punch through of the headlight was guaranteed and I told everyone this. If you have the jammers near the bottom of the car of course you'll get punches, so why would I shoot the headlights in a video when the jammers can't be mounted properly due to the fact of the cars shape? It would be manipulative of me to show punch throughs on a jammer that couldn't be mounted the way it should have been.
The people who post up laser mimic threads are always "new" and they try to confuse the noobs by reminding everyone of those videos. I disclosed everything to the board, appologized numerous times(even though I knowingly didn't do anything wrong at the time), and issued a retraction.
What else do people want from me? If I was a psychic I would have been able to prevent that test, but heck guys it's a hobby and I enjoy testing prototypes just like the GoL.
Why do you think I made such a fuss about GoL testing prototypes? I didn't want the GoL falling into the same juiced unit set up the manufacturer of teh laser mimic put me into. This is why I say we should never test prototypes. It only confuses people in the long run.
Thanks for listening guys,
Chris
Correct. Not only did I issue a an apology, something I didn't have to do anyway because I didn't know I received a juiced unit at the time, but before the test I gave a full disclosure to everyone just like the GoL did. I told the members I got it directly from the manufacturer.Originally Posted by stalker

The other thing I would add on the Laser Mimic deal. Anyone who had followed these forums for a while knows that everyone has learned a lot. if you looked at some of the testing that was done back then and compare it to what the GOL team has been doing it is completely different stuff, and hardly in any way resembles the tests that get done today. Each time folks get together to test something they refine the procedure, change the parameters, and we learn a lot more.
The Laser Mimic deal was a long time ago, and everyone has learned a lot since then. I read JTW's explanation and was satisfied in the explanation when it happened. I don't know why someone would try to dredge up something from that far back especially knowing what we know now. Things that make you go hmmmm.
