Default what happens if you get caught with a jammer?

If you are in a state that they are illegal and get caught, what happens? I was under the impression that the cops would take the jammer away.

After watching ford almost get arrested for getting busted, even in a state that there is no law prohibiting it- has me a bit worried

So what happened? What did the cop do? What was the traffic stop for?
    Inquiring minds need to know.

I am amazed at how a good majority of Leo's do not even know the laws they are put in place to enforce. Many haven't a clue. and they try to strong arm & threaten you with arrest for exercising your constitutionally given rights.

and the scariest part is that most uninformed citizens allow this to happen to them.

in all fairness to the cops, laws are constantly going up, and many changing.

In Virginia, you would be in violation of Code of VA 46.2-1079. Violation of this code is a petty traffic infraction, no points are added to your drving record. You are not even required to go to court for it, you can just pay it if you want to. The laser jammer does not have to be confiscated, LEO's have other ways for "collecting evidence." The payment processing fee if you just pay it is the same amount of $ as the court fee if you decide to go to court.

Penalty if you have a VA license: $40 fine plus a fee of about $56 for court or payment processing fee if you choose not to go to court. The conviction does get recorded on your driving record, but no demerit points are issued by DMV.

Penalty if your license is not issued from VA and laser jammers are legal in your home state: Same as above, but nothing would be recorded on your home state driving record since laser jammers are legal in your home state.

I'm not sure what would happen if say for example you had a Colorado driver's license and you got caught with a laser jammer in VA. Laser jammers are illegal in Co too, but I don't know how CO would translate the VA conviction.

Hopefully other people will have information about their states.

I live in wisconsin, adhesive window tint was illegal for vehicles registered in state many years ago, there are still troopers out there writing tickets for it, and in many cases the judges do not even know the law about it.

I have always made a point to carry specific state statutes with me for "grey area" items like this. because it is alot easier to not get a ticket by showing the LEo the exact law, instead of trying to convince the almighty (in his mind) judge and wasting your and the courts time.

And one other point, most people with above average intelligence do not choose law enforcement as a profession. Why would they? so mostly you are dealing with shaved-head, power-high, idiots that carry guns. Not all, but a good majority.

Just because a certian cop thinks there should be a law to hinder our freedoms, does not make it true.

I agree with some of your statements.
You are forgetting you live in WIS.. WI people have no freedoms. This is how they keep the sheep in line. You are guilty until proven guilty. I lived there most of my life. I should know. Why do you think the population does not grow? Almost everyone leaves. Cops are just angry because they deal with domestic disputes all day. And don't get paid much for doing it. Wisconsin’s major revenues for roads are tickets, this is why they ticket so much. They know you most likely are just passing through and have no intention to move there to pay taxes. Even if you do pay taxes you have to pay the road use tax (tickets). (Rant over)

Yes but to say they are allowed to do something if you don’t let them when by law they CANT is WRONG. I have meet a couple of cools cops but for the rest of them (majority) I have NO respect for.

Yes, everything is illegal in Virginia. In my post above I listed the law section that outlaws laser jammers.
