Default Why Must Jammer Heads be Level?

I've seen how this is shown being checked in test videos and wondered what happens if the heads are not strictly level? I can understand why they need to be fairly straight but why the accuracy at being level?

    Thanks

Even though it may look like it's "almost" level standing in front of your jammer, go out 500ft and think about how small even a little deviation is. The farther you get away, the bigger the error becomes. This is critical when we are talking about lasers with a beamwidth of 12" or so. Think if we talking about the laser gun....just a tiny error and you are shooting over your target.

I see your point. I was thinking the "cone" of output from the jammer would be much larger than the incoming laser beam.

I guess vehicle movement on a bumpy road would also play a role in performance.

You are right, the jammer's output is quite a bit wider. The jammers don't use the focusing optics that laser guns do, and without the optics both LEDs and laser diodes diverge quite a bit.

Basically the main reason you want them level is so they're not shooting into the sky or into the ground. Like hotbird said, if they are off just a little, that equates to a lot at longer distances.
