    Default newbie laser jammer question

ok i just got my first radar detector a few months ago. Its the whistler pro 58 and it works good for me, its cheap ( very important to me) and still does its job. Yeah its not as good as some of the others ones such as sti or valentine one but it works. Now since I got it, I must have gotten hit by laser at least 4 or 5 times, luckily I was going the speed limit. But I have deiced that it was time to get a jammer. What I'm looking for is a jammer that works, but is still cheap. I am a college student so the cheaper the better. What do you guys recommend?

what type of car do you drive and what color is it. Also where do you live. This will help to determine what you are up against. But keep in mind that Jammers come at a price and cheaper ones normaly lack performance.

Well it sounds like your either going to want a diode jammer (like the LPP for info on that look around this forum) or you going to want a LED jammer. I think that if you went witht the less powerful LED jammers you should look into Blinder because they are the best LED jammers. You might be able to find some used. If you went with Blinder you would need a M20 (two heads upfront) if you went with LPP you would need only one head. Also you would have no protectio in the rear of your car, which is fine since rear shot are very rare. I also only have the front of my car protected. Also just to give you an idea i think unless you go used you gonna be spending over 300 bucks. There other jammers out there but they won't do much.

You're looking at around $800 for anything decent.

that sounds like a little to much. i found the laser pro park and they say its 298 pounds to thats like $580, form what i read its really good but costs too much(at least for me). I think the blinder m20 would be good from what i need. anyone know where i could maybe pick one up used?

Well perhaps my guess was a bit low you could get an M20 from roy for 350. but you would also need veil and a laser shield together an additional 100 bucks. These two items are not needed for a diode jammer. Just something to keep in mind.

well we don't use a front license plate here so the laser shield does not apply, and my head lights are really small, so i don't know if the veil will really make that much of a difference on my car.

Dude you will have decent protection with the Blinder M20....Yeah you will not have JTG performance but it will give you time to slow down.

    Go with the Blinder M20!!!!

Members don't understand that you do not need JTG performance all the time.

    ^ +1.

And also, depending on where you live - the hardware your local enforcers use, even the ZR3 may be a viable choice for you.

"JTG" performance is hard to achieve, even if you spend money on top-flight diode-based jammers. There are many variables, and there's never any guaranty.

However, sufficient time to "slow-to-PSL/reasonable" can be achieved with relatively modest budgets, and its results are typically more reproduceable, provided that you are not facing extreme engagement distances (either long or short) with your local enforcement practices.

Regardless, VEIL will help, and your jamming will be more effective with its use, particularly with the less powerful LED-based jammers, especially if fewer heads are used. Alternatively, consider "dressing" your headlights using a dark headlight cover - if this is both aesthetically acceptable to you as well as legally viable (check your local laws), as this has been proven to work as well.

Finally, a dark, non-reflective bra over your front end may also help further reduce PTs, and is also a viable additional passive-protection measure.

    ----

A quick note - check with the MANUFACTURER of the product whether or not a PROFESSIONAL INSTALL is required for you to maintain warranty coverage. I know that Escort now requires this of their jammers and remote-detectors. I am not certain about Blinder.

A professional installation can cut deeply into your budget.
