Default How is my placement of the heads? "Down the road"

Ok guys, about to make the purchase. I watched a lot of Jason's videos and that really got me wanting the Blinder X20 (I have an Integra, that should be plenty).

As such, I've been doing a ton of research today and I think the Blinder seems to be the way to go. Thoughts, everyone? Am I making the right expensive choice in your expert opinions?

Also, how difficult is this hard to install on your own? I want to do this off the radar around the house, if you get my drift.

Also, is there a way to get some discount on the equipment? I want to speed ship it to me because my cross country trip is coming up in a couple of weeks. The wife will be working on Saturday morning so I could install it then if it's not rocket science.

    Abe Froman,

I think FAS actually quoted "General" Lincoln (that's Irving Lincoln) from his early radio days.

If you install the Blinders, you void their warranty. They have to be installed by a "professional."

Hmm, really? Could have sworn I read somewhere that they need to be installed professionally. Oh well.

^ I've read that statement, too.

However, I think that Blinder's crew have been making exceptions for this on either a case-by-case basis or by "known quantities" for those involved in the hobby/community.

If Abe is planning to self-install in order to save some money, it'd do him well to consult, directly, the Blinder crew, and have an exception made.

I read that will alot of car electronics which I installed all by myself and was able to get replacementp parts no problem

The main thing you risk on the not going to a professional place is the No ticket guarantee but after a recent experience at one blinder installer they tried to install it behind a grill. I then took it off and reinstalled it

Oh, I agree. If you can do it yourself, by all means do it. It's cheaper, and most of the time done better

If you've got the $, I'd still recommend looking at AL or LPP. I don't trust Blinder, PTs are too high.

Hey guys, sorry I didn't get a chance to respond---holiday weekend.

Well, it's installed and done. I learned a lot in the process and realized that I really didn't need to throw all that money out the window over the past 20 years on having people install stuff in my car, lol. DIY rocks.

However, I wasn't aware of the issue on the warranty and I'm contacting the dealer to get more info. I was aware of the loss of the ticket guarantee but I'm fine with that.

Did have a question for the forum---I'm totally OBSESSING over the placement of the heads from a "pointing down the road" standpoint. I have them well positioned, they're level...but, my car is curved in the front so I'm trying to line their sight down the road. I used a right angle ruler but man, they still look off--probably just the curve throwing me off.

Does anyone have a surefire method to make sure they're straight? What did you do?
