Default Laser Jammer recomendations for Massachusetts and BMW e46?

Been doing some reading for the last few hours on this site, and the Guys of Lidar site as well... I'm more confused now than I was before I started... Haha... I think I'm information overload...

Anyhow, I live in Mass, and have a BMW 330. Was looking for some recomendations for this setup... The LPP sounded interesting... I actually wasn't able to find any of them online to purchase except for the Escort Z3 and the Blinder...

Oh, here's the front of my car... No front plate:

    Thanks for the help!

If your not in a rush to get a jammer, you might want to think about waiting for the laser interceptor to come out. Also, Logistical issues regarding the LPP can be answered through a google search

Sorry I can't be more descriptive.....

    Perhaps this will help.

We are not allowed to recommend a jammer for you, but this should give you some idea about performance

Do you have an old green plate? Otherwise you are asking to get pulled without a front plate. I speak from experience. There plenty of alternative plate mount brackets available so you don't need to drill through your bumper.

I guess the jammer recommendation would depend on your budget, but they do pay for themselves rather quickly around here.

I don't... Never been pulled over for it (knock-on-wood), but I've been pulled over a dozen times or so in the car, and never had anyone mention it... =)

I have the "bracket is on back order from Germany" excuse lined up and ready to go...

Hey, just saw your V1 install in the mini... I returned my V1 ages ago because of the single colored lights... and i hate remote displays... Could you do that on the main unit itself? Where in MA are you? Im in Waltham...

Personally I'm waiting for the laser interceptor just because of the impressive results at GOL. Although we all trust GOL, there's a little doubt in my mind that GOL got paid off by Laser Interceptor. The numbers are just astonishing. Highly unlikely that this is the case but I can't resist.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned that you're driving around with just the rear plate. As jwardell mentioned, you need the old green lettered in order to be exempt from front plates. Unless you're related to a cop in which you need to put the blue strip where your license plate usually is.

I'd get a plate relocator and put it off to the side. I think there are some that let you do it without drilling holes.

If you don't want to go the laser interceptor route, AntiLaser or LPP is the best route. IMHO ZR3 is too old and the Blinders can't keep up with JTG if that's what you want.

The LPP is advertised as a parking sensor, so you have to buy it that way.

Look at the prototype results of the Anti-Laser? JTGs all the time except for one gun with the prototype AL6...Different story with the retail. Wait until a retail version is tested of the LI before you go LI crazy

Yup too many times I had egg on my face. As much as I want to believe the LI RETAIL will do good I still have my doubts. The game changes dramatically once a product gets massed produced.    From quality issues to performance issues, etc. Having said this it is hard not to be excited especially witnessing performance FIRST HAND
RIP Duncan my BELOVED black lab son 8/7/99-3/23/11. I will miss you DEARLY.

Like the others here have recommended, I would also say that if you can wait, then hold-out for independent hobbyist tests of the Laser Interceptor once it reaches full production retail.

Otherwise, for performance testing of currently-available products, check the referenced GOL testing. It's as good as it gets.

Performance-wise, this is an easy recommendation - just get what matches your local enforcement practices/hardware. The GOL test shows performance versus each and every likely encounter you'll see today, Stateside, and is a good way to go about your decision making.

Aside from this quantitative measure, the only other consideration are the qualitatives.

Yes, neither of the LED-based jammers - the Blinder or the Escort - may be top-dogs in terms of performance (although each can be very effective against specific threats, and are excellent purchases if they match your local enforcement protocol), they both provide known-quantity and solid-bank customer-service and warranty/guaranty claims. Certainly, the *possible* need of a full professional installation can add to your overall costs, but this is not a given, and even installation costs can vary dramatically.

With the AntiLaser, shipping - including Customs brokerage fees and/or duties - can be problematic. Furthermore, the need to use wire-transfers can be both time-consuming and off-putting to many (as well as incurring yet another expense). Also, there have been and also there remains some concern as to the durability/reliability of these units. But it must be said that at least for the known cases presented in this community and others, customer-service has been nothing short of outstanding.

With the Laser ProPark, since there is a NA distributor, shipping and purchasing is much easier than the AL. However, the ultimate durability/reliability of these rather newer, UK-made "copies" of the AL remains an unknown (early reports are promising) - and the follow-through of the NA distributor is also an unknown factor (here, it must be said that their pre-purchase, purchase, as well as immediate post-purchase customer-service and follow-up has been nothing short of stellar, based on the feedback of the vast majority of their customers).

There's pros and cons to each.

You simply have to weigh the considerations for yourself - as well as weigh whether or not you should wait for the production-retail LI.
