Default Dynamic Laser Cruise Control laser alerts- MUST READ!!!

I’m sure many of you have already heard of the Lexus Dynamic Laser cruise control. I had also but never really paid attention to it until now.
Earlier today I was on the highway cruising when I received a rear laser alert on my Passport SRX as well as Valentine one. (I recently purchased a 997 C4S Cab and it already had the SRX system installed.)
Instinctively I hit the brakes and looked in the rear view mirrors for the LEO. I had not passed under a bridge so I looked left and right but could not see anything. There was only one vehicle behind me and it was a Lexus with Dynamic Laser cruise control. I had just passed the vehicle when I received the alert. Suspecting it was probably the source I slowed down and positioned my Porsche to about 400 feet in front of the Lexus and I again received the laser alert.
As far as I know only Toyota and Lexus are currently using this technology but more are sure to follow.
Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it but know that we will be seeing more bogus rear laser alerts as more vehicles operate with Dynamic Laser cruise control.

    Just a heads up.

On the LPP they give a 3 beep false alert , it is totally different than a real laser threat.

Dont know how other jammers respond.

Its amazing how far those things trigger the jammers response though.

The only options I've found unfortunately are to speed up, or slow down and let um pass. With my lpp rear head it's a pain, I can pick them up from 1/4 mile out and then it's just a steady three beeps. Veil guy was working with Audi or Bmw for a while talking to there engineers about changing the k band cruise control, and I believe he had success.

I say if you are motivated you can try to get in contact with them and explain your displeasure. I know when I brought this up to LPP about a year ago they where going to work on a patch, but I'm not sure if anything came from it.

    *sigh.

    Walt -

Thank you for your most considerate warning - but unfortunately, this is already a known issue........

To add to your list of vehicles to worry about, various Infiniti/Nissan vehicles will also trigger this same type of alert.

Give the search function here a try - search either for "Lexus" or "Infiniti," and you'll find posts dating back as far as 2005.

Along with the jammer-falsing issues, there is also the issue of ("self"-)detection when using various radar detectors (in particular the V1) in-vehicle.

Don't forget to add the infiniti's Intelligent Cruise Control on your list.

So here's my question, will a laser jammer jam their cruise control?? I.E. cause the cruise control to shut off? Maybe this would be motivation for them to use something else.

Or forget to add Audi's new Laser Based Lane Departure Warning System due out 2008 model year! I was next to not one but three of the new test mule Audi A5/S5s, Audi has a test center here in Tampa Bay, Florida, and I had a heck of a time figuring out what it was till I saw the laser diodes on the sides of the bumpers!! Took me 10 miles to figure it out!

does the laser cruise also have the ability to apply brakes? I assume not since that'd have the potential to be extremely dangerous

The Audi design simply lets you know when the car next to you, or your car, is encroaching too close to your vehicle.
