Default Hypothetical 9500ci vs V1 and LI

I know that until the zr4 and 9500ci are released and tested there will be no definitive answer, but let's think about it hypothetically for a moment. Assuming the zr4 and 9500ci live up the the hype and turn out as good as some people say they will...which system is better, the 9500ci or the V1 combined with LI?

From what I have read so far:

    pros for 9500ci
    -great radar and laser protection
-newly released laser claimed to be addressed
-custom installed and well integrated into the car
-in case of any problems it should be easy to deal with Escort and the local place where it was bought

    cons
    -about $600 more
-laser protection may or may not be as good as LI (depending on whether it lives up the hype or not)

    pros for the V1/LI
    -great radar sensitivity
    -best laser protection
    -$600 less than 9500ci

    cons
-not as reliable, reported problems, more difficult to warranty/repair since shipping to Croatia
-needs to be installed myself (I have another thread where I am trying to figure out if I am capable or not, I don't have much experience)

Is that all pretty accurate? What would you do?

I'd rather install them myself so that I know the heads are positioned correctly. Also there is a single point of failure with the escort.. We'll see if it lives up to the hype..

The problem with the LI (it is the better jammer), is reliability. To date no high performance system has proven reliabilty.

The ZR3/4 is a dependable system, but you will not have JTG performance accross the board, unless the ZR4 comes out kicking azz. Which I doubt. WOuld love for Escort to prove me wrong.

Could you explain what you mean by that?

At this point I think I would take reliability over performance. How do you figure out when the system is not longer working properly (hopefully not by getting a ticket)? I do not have access to any radar/laser equipment nore do I know of anyone that does.

As for the top-notch diode products, I think it is unlikely that there will by a malfunction that some system check alert, informal or formal, will not let you know ahead of time.

The LI has a start-up alert for bad sensors or poor connections. Also, it is easy to check the parking function with a wave of the hand or some friendly tailgating and if it is working than everything is definitely okay as per Ivan.

Also, my pda can set off my heads by beaming a contact, but I also ordered the new laser jammer tester.

5 points that I can think about right off the bat:

    1. It looks like the 9500CI will be a good deal more sensitive than the V1. This poster says his STi-R is sometimes 10-12 sec better than his 9500i. This with a less favorable mounting position. Wow! Thant might put it significantly out in front of everything out there:

    2. Thievery. With the V1 setup, I couldn't leave my top down and stroll into the store for a 12er. With the 9500ci, I can.

    3. Truelock. So far, so good on Truelock, despite the doubters. The 9500ci will be able to suppress any or all false alerts.

    4. Spec mode. Love me some spec mode!

    5. Integration. One display and one control setup for the whole system.

The only downside I see for the 9500ci system in this matchup, assuming that the ZR4s are comparable to the LI, is the V1's arrows. I have arrow envy.

Thats why you need to add a STi-R to cover your "back side" and only turn it on when you are on the highways rather than in town. Think about it -- the 9500ci's blue display for front detection, and the STi-R's red display for rear detection.

Sweet a $3500 RD, called what? The "V9500CI1"?

All I can say is I have no complaints thus far with my V1&LI combo. My LI has been trouble free thus far(...knocks on wood). Main issue on the ZR4 is jamming performance is untested, although diode jammers typically deliver better performance.
