Laser encounter but didnt see the LEO?

5:02pm I was traveling northbound on Spencer drive. PSL is an underposted 30mph. V1 and LI alerted. LI identified it as PLIII. I slowed down to 25 and killed the LI. Didn't see the LEO ANYWHERE. I only have front sensors so he couldn't have been behind me. Could this have been some crazy false alarm?

Is there a red light camera there? Some red light camera systems use PL3's.

He could have been well hidden. Sometimes they'll hide behind a truck or something and poke the laser gun up or around and shoot, and if you aren't looking you won't know they're there.

One time I was driving home from work on a similar road (30 mph, no stoplights or anything) when my RX65 sounded a laser alert. I looked all around but didn't see anything. After a mile or so curiosity got the better of me so I turned around to make another pass. On the return trip I spotted him walking around, and when I turned back, he was crouched behind the bed of a parked pick-up truck getting ready to shoot.

Since the LI reported a PLIII I doubt it was a false.

I once had a TruSpeed alert on my LIs from an LCC equipped BMW. The pulse rates for the PLIII and the TruSpeed are almost identical, so I'd say a PLIII false alert is possible, but most likely you just missed the shooter.

In areas where PLS is 30-40 MPH, I have seen Leo hidding next to a tree or bushes on feet.

When you've seen this, what is the scenario?

Are they typically wearing a bright neon vest? Then they step out into the road and wave to you to pull over?

Or, are they on the radio giving your info to a chase car down the road?

There was an intersection maybe less than a quarter mile ahead of me when I detected this hit. I'm pretty sure that intersection doesn't utilize red light cameras though.

I had a hit on I-75 one day and never could figure out where it came from. There wasn't an overpass that was nearby, and I didn't see a cop anywhere in sight. Got a front hit twice. I'm wondering if it was a car heading in the opposite direction that had active cruise.

That's the norm around here. The bike patrols use the laser most and they can stash a bike off to the side and you will never see it. This forces someone intothe untenable situation of having to JTG the poor ba$tards. You can smash your brake and if he's shot your from the rear then he knows your status. In a vette you can smash your brake and lower your front end enough to allow PT. Each instance is different and these guys can really hide when they want to, we have a lot of dark roads here.
