Laser Transponder question

Transponders" operate, by running some pulse matching algorithm, etc. What I was thinking, why bother? Why don't the (Transponders) just turn on during the duration of the shot? The gun would never read its own pulses. Of course it would be obvious that a countermeasure was in place, but it seems it work work....

Because if it's obvious and you're in a probited area then you're busted, and if you're in a permitted area you're giving the electronic middle finger to the officer, which tends to upset those that take traffic enforcement more seriously than the bible they put their hand on when the swore an oath. P***ing off guys with guns is never smart.

srtga should have a good explanation about it for you from a GSP Trooper, when his friend didn't kill the ZR3s fast enough.

I meant how they operate technically, at the low-level signal pulses. Not how long to leave the unit on when targeted.

I am guessing to avoid "Jam" codes. Sending pulses in the same rate as received may cause the LG to work harder and keep giving up to restart.

Ok mis-understood the question, you're talking more matching the signals over brute force? That's for the jam code avoidance.

its still sold today. Last I checked, it was more expensive than LI.

In order for a laser transponder (LOL) to jam a Lidar gun by using a continous signal it would have to be so "bright" that it would completely blot out any and all of the actual signals returning to the gun, sort of like using a super-duper loud speaker turned up full blast so that the LEO's couldn't hear the loud exhaust on one's car.

I think he is talking about the Lidatek. I'd take a LI over it though. The Lidatek only jams for five seconds. Plus, with the LI, you get gun ID.
