Default Seeking advice on laser jamming system.

Hello, I am currently in the market for a laser jammer. I live in the DFW area and drive a Cayman. I currently own a valentine 1 and honestly don't usually speed a lot, the problem is that I would rather not pay a ticket for going 7 or 8mph over the speed limit. I bought the valentine 1 a while back but its software is still the latest according to the website and am completely satisfied with that purchase as it has saved me from Ka band like crazy and even got lucky once with a laser hit that i got, slowed down, and then watched the guy next to me get the ticket (kinda crappy but thats the way it goes i guess).

My actual question is, which laser system do you guy recommend for my car. The cayman is sort of a small car and quite honestly I was trying to see if I could get around purchasing the LI because of the price. I'm currently looking at owning the blinder M47 and putting 3 heads in the front, I cant remember which member had that setup or if it was on the Porsche forum, but I was hoping to get some advice from you guys. Thank you in advance for any suggestions/advice you may be willing to offer.

I was just asked what color the car was and since I don't have 5 posts i cant upload or view albums yet so i set it as a profile picture. I currently don't have a front license plate either, I was told when I took it in for some service at the Porsche dealership it wasn't required but they thought I should. I think if I get a laser jammer system then I'll go ahead and put it on since it would be one less reason to get pulled over.

If you're being 100% honest, and only go 7-8 mph over the speed limit there is no need for a radar detector or jammers. One of the Texas cops on this site has said they don't site that low.

Having said that... if you have a V1 and a Cayman, I seriously doubt 7-8 mph is the issue you're concerned about. Trust me, I have vehicle which runs like a scalded dog and its hard to resist the temptation of the throttle.

The M47 should do very well on your vehicle. 2 heads up front, 2 in the back. My vehicle has a much bigger front end and 2 Blinder heads up front JTGs against 3 different lidar guns.

Speed-dreams, he sort of said price was a concern ----> "The cayman is sort of a small car and quite honestly I was trying to see if I could get around purchasing the LI because of the price. "

My philosophy is to spend as much as is needed to get the job done, but not to spend more than is needed, and I don't have a cheap vehicle by a long shot.

no offence, but geez you drive a Cayman... why cheap out on counter measures, plus you already have a V1? A good combo is V1+LI

I think the other Caymen had 3 front LI and 1 rear LI and it was JTG/JFG.

Often you'll find that when some people afford nicer vehicles its because they've not been spend-thrifts elsewhere.

Hey guys, I really appreciate all the comments. I'm really glad to have found a forum with people that are as into this and even more than I am.

I don't have much time to respond now but I'll try to respond to all the comments/questions.

Chariot- I can honestly say that I agree with your philosophy of spending what is needed and not more, even though having a cayman is not the best use of money, but we all have our weaknesses Also, you're right, 7-8 mph is not the only extent of my speeding, especially on 121 or the tollway when I go to Dallas.

Speed-dreams--> Trust me if I had unlimited money, I would get the LI quad, but unfortunately thats a little too expensive for me right now, maybe later on another car. I bought the valentine close to 10 years ago, which is why i have it.

Dr. Coke--> yea I think thats the one I remember seeing. Didn't know it was LI, darn it..lol.

    Question:

I keep reading that different states use different laser guns, do any of you guys know if the blinder M47 would suffice for texas, specifically the DFW area. One of the main reasons why I'm actually actively looking for this now is because I was driving down a street and they usually set up a speed trap, the speed limit there is either 30 or 35 and I'm usually 10 over. Also, I got a ticket in my previous car which was a 99 Accord and the cop was nice enough to let me know that he uses a laser gun and actually got be in what is a crack between two bridges, in case anyone is wondering, this is camp bowie and the bridge /overpass is highway I30.

The Blinder M47 will jam all US guns, including the hard to jam Stalker. Its light years ahead of the previous generation Blinders. I was stunned at its performance with my vehicle when we tested my vehicle locally against three different guns (ProLaser III, Stalker LZ-1, & Laser Atlanta).

Granted the LI are the best, I won't dispute that. But the Blinder will not only get the job done, it'll get it done with flying colors. If you have at least two of these factors then I'd recommend LIs or 3 Blinder heads up front: lots of front chrome, bright color paint, large front end (full size truck or suv), front tag.

PS.... know all about weaknesses to certain vehicles. I can say without a doubt that what I drive is fairly..... unique.

Our tests here in GA have shown the Blinder X7 series to be about 75-80% of the LI. The old X5 series was about 50% of the LI at best. You can see the jump they made with the new series.

On small to medium sized cars the Blinder will perform as well as the LI. The LI still has an advantage on larger vehicles. LI also gives you voice alerts to the type of gun being used.

On a Porsche I suspect the Blinder will be perform as well as the LI, but I have nothing definitive to back that up. Most cars in that price point opt for the LI, since you have more disposable income to begin with.

You have 2 options basically. Go with the M47, start with 2 heads in the front and test. Add a third head if needed. If not put the 2 heads on the rear. Or, you can get a LI dual and do front protection and add rear heads as money allows.

4 Head LI (On Vette) (7.11 CPU Regular heads front, HP Heads on the rear)

LI Quad (On Ice Cream Truck)

LI Dual (On SRX, 7.06 CPU)

All the replies are spot on as ever.

I'll just add that the Blinders give great performance, but their achilles heal is the size of the heads.

It'd be sensible to find the head dimensions and cut out a piece of card and just check you have room front and rear for them (especially the rear).

That was one of the major reasons why I went with the LI when it came out and binned my Laser pro Park setup.

And whatever you go for, ask around here for someone with a Lidar gun to help you test your setup.
