Percentage of Drivers with Jammers?

A guy right around the corner from me has an Audi S8, and he has at least a rear jammer on his plate. Thus I would assume that he has a 9500ci, but his car always K-falses my 8500 refurb and my v1, so either he also has a Cobra in there, or his lane assist is being annoying as always.

I bet the percentage varies by location. Ohio, being so laser-happy, probably has a higher percentage of jammer users than East Podunk, Mainetana where the LEOs still have X-band microwaves bolted to the side of their cruisers.

Even RDs, which are far more common than jammers, are mostly Cobras anyway.

I believe I have only ever noticed one jammer.

Everytime I thought I saw a jammer, it turned out to be an EZ Pass.

Haha, now you have me second guessing that one sighting, lol.

EZ pass makes a transponder that looks like a bar and gets mounted with the license plate screws. I believe it has to go on the front plate.

Do drivers ever give you a weird glance when using the lidar gun?

I've been yelled at and honked at a couple times. The trick is to find a good shooting spot where drivers have a hard time seeing you such as the top of an overpass.

I usually just sit at a bus stop and pick off car after car. No one ever even notices me there. No jammers yet and very few of them even slow down, which might indicate the presence of a radar detector. The only time I ever have any problem whatsoever getting a reading is when another car gets in the way.

Personally, I have not seen any other cars with jammers in my neck of the woods, unless you count our Buffalo/GTA jammerfest in May...and AirMoore paid me a visit last year.

A local stereo shop I go to often in Santa Cruz, sells ZR4s. I asked the manager there, and he says they sell and install about one a month. The guy who tinted my windows used to work for a shop in LA that installed transponders, and he said he did them 'once in awhile'.

Common sense dictates this is a small market, at least now. Anyone who has a laser transponder will also have a detector first, which means they have to pony up at least $1k for these toys. (Presumably someone with a transponder won't have a Cobra RD).

I agree that a LEO in a typical metro area might encounter 1 or 2 a year, and likely won't be aware of it, unless the guy is a moron and JTGs. Luckily so far there are only a few of those as well.

Fortunately, enough people have bought jammers to make it worthwhile for vendors to make and sell them.

I don't have any now, but I am looking to acquire some in the future. Even then I don't think I'll be telling anyone about such devices, I would rather the market remain secluded, lest I feel that they will be outlawed.

I think I saw one this weekend. I was passing him along with all the other traffic. If it was one, it was a ZR3 as it was a single head on the rear plate.

I don't own a jammer, but a friend of mine owns a dual LI setup. He's the only person I know that owns one and he's even had it tested with a JTG result. I didn't know he had one till the other day when I rode with him.
