Default Got my first ticket, time for a jammer!

    Hi guys,

I am 20 and have a 09 Chrysler 300 that I bought last August. Most of my driving is from home to school on the weekends. My house is in Ashtabula and I go to school in Akron, which is about a hour and 15 minutes along I-90, 271, and Rt. 8. I have been running a V1 for almost a year now and prior to that I ran a 8500. I was taking summer classes for the first semester of the summer. My Calc II class was a 8 week summer class and the other two classes I had where 5 weeks. So after those 5 week ones where done, I would just drive from my home and back every day instead of staying at my apartment at school. The first week of July I drove to my class which was at 8:15 in the morning, then after class I headed back home. It was just a few minutes after 10 and I was headed North on RT. 8, traffic was quite light since the morning rush was over with. Between the University of Akron and the end of Cuyahoga Falls the speed limit is 55 and after Cuy Falls it goes back up to 65. During the day most everyone will be doing 65 in the second and third lane, so I was in the third lane passing a Jeep and the laser warning on the V1 went off and I immediately hit the breaks and I knew I was busted. I ended up getting clocked going 75 in a 55, the cop said that he only starts pulling people over if they are going 20+. Even though it was my first time being pulled over for anything, he was not going to let me off with a warning and I think having the V1 in the middle of my windshield did not help either. Right before he let me go, he asked me if I had a job. I replied no, but I have no idea why he would ask me that.

So after a $100 fine, I am here.

From what I have read the Laser Interceptor has the smallest head, which I like because it would mean minimal cutting of the grill on my 300. I measured and I would only have to trim the dividers and I would not have to cut any out to fit it in. The grill is chrome so by cutting out a divider it would be quite noticeable.

I am not as worried about the back but I figure I should put something there as well. I was wondering about getting a Blinder m27 for the rear because that would be cheaper then buying two additional LI heads for the rear and the Blinder should provide decent enough protection right? I plan to mount them under the lip that overhangs the plate bracket. One on each side of the overhang.

I noticed on the LI site that they have the version 6 and 7 units on sale that come with the 8.8 heads. Are the version 8 cpu's that much better?

Also, what about the V1 interfacing with the LI, I cannot find too much information about that on the internet.

What do you guys think of this solution?

Sorry for the really long post.
    Thanks in advance,
    -Rob

    I feel ya man.

I got busted for over 100mph recently (second time for over 100mph also...), this is why I'm here... I can already buy Escort Redline, but I chose to wait until I have enough money for LI Dual at least + Redline, that way I won't feel false sense of security by having RD only.

As far as mounting on your car, I checked google pics it seems you have ideal location right next to foglights, where you won't need to cut anything.

    wow that's a cheap fine

$100 for 20 over PSL is lenient.

Here it's $185 for 5 over PSL and goes up exponentially from there.

Your rear end is always harder to cover than your front end. Consequently, I would not recommend using a lower level of protection there. And there's only a fifty dollar difference between buying those two systems and just buying an LI quad to begin with. Trust me, the difference in performance is worth a LOT more than fifty bucks! In fact, you'll save at least a hundred bucks by not having to buy Veil.

As for interfacing, most of us don't really see the value in it. All it does is send your V1 warnings into the LI, and you end up having to learn a whole new set of alerts from what you are used to. It doesn't really add anything, performance wise.

I'll let Cliff address the virtues of the various versions. But the LI is very definitely your best choice.

You made it four years longer without a ticket than I did when I was a new driver, so congratulations! It all has to come to an end sooner or later.

Buy an LI-Quad here and be done with it:
    http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...m-members.html

Its on sale and you get a 10% discount. The LI-heads are very small and very powerful. I personally like the gun identification as its the only jammer in the market to do so. The front of your car has lots of chrome and large headlights and I personally would not trust anything other than LI to protect the front with any gun at any range and any angle. In general, rear protection is much much harder to protect compare to the front. Even the best jammers have troubles protection the rear mainly because of poor jammer head placement.

The LI Quad it is! Unfortunately I always have to have the best, so it was pretty easy to sell me on the Quad.

As far as mounting I saw a post on the LI forums last year and it was a ex-cop with a 300 SRT-8. He had mounted both of the front sensors in the grill next to each headlight. If I could mount them next to the fog lights that would be really awesome, since I think they would be a lot less noticeable there. I will post a pic of the front end if you guys want.

I figured the LI would send it's warnings to the V1, not the other way around. I am not going to worry about connecting the two then.

I had a Dodge Caliber up until I got the 300. The Caliber isn't nearly as nice of a car as the 300 and it didn't go as fast. In Ashtabula County where I grew up, all the cops use radar so that's how I have gotten away for four years. Twice I have gotten into my car and was pulling around my driveway when the X-band would go off, then 30 seconds later a HP would go driving by. That's how all the cops where there. In Cleveland and Akron the cops seem to really love their laser guns.

The heads will have to go in the second or third level down of grille crosspieces. Any lower will put you at serious risk of failure. And no, it's not obvious to anyone but you if you do it right.

I figured it had to be in the grill.

Also, is the PA/JAM switch necessary? I am not quite sure what function that adds to the unit.

The 10% discount for forum members is awesome, thanks Dr. Coke!
