Although all encounters are "unexpected", some are less expected than others.
It's often crossed my mind that I could just turn off my jammers any time I'm in my home area between Murfreesboro and La Vergne, TN, since "there isn't any laser here", although I have been hit several times in Nashville, 20 miles to the north, but I always left them on "Just in case". I'd feel really stupid if I got a ticket because my jammers were shut off!
Yesterday morning I had to run some errands in Murfreesboro; the sky was gray and overcast with occasional light patches of drizzle--just barely enough to turn your wipers on for 3-4 wipes before you were out of it-- and the temp was about 45*, when lo and behold I come across two motorcycle cops shooting laser with a Stalker LZ1!
I was going south on a divided 4-lane and they were on the northbound side just before the speed limit increased from 45 to 55, but my rear heads picked up enough scatter to set the LI off and announce "LZ1".
Not a save in any shape or form, more of a reminder that you just plain never know when.
Out riding a bike to shoot laser when it's 45* and threatening to rain...that's hard core.
