A local acquaintince is selling his ZR3, brand new for 300.

Is this a good deal? or should I lowball him? or should I get the new ZR4?

    suggestions?

its going on the Ford Focus that I posted in my other thread.

I would suggest lowballing to at least $150 then go to $200 if you have to. Even the ZR4 is not the best technology. The ZR3 is a nice jammer if you are up against lidar guns that are vulnerable to jamming (ProLaser 3 for instance). Even in these situations you need to have your head screwed on right. If you get an alert you need to recognize it, slow to the PSL and get the jammer turned off. This holds true for all jammers but the ZR3 which can have high punch thru readings (the point a lidar gun can out clock the jammer) requires quick attention to alerts.

Case in point. In Htown where the ProLaser 3 reigns supreme some attention has been brought to laser jamming (through some fault of my own). Some officers will initiate a stop on certain cars if they get a consistant error on the speed reading. Right now this has been effecting large SUVs and Pickups that typically get easy reads. However I've heard some stories that HPD is pulling any expensive silver sports car they see throw a blank in the PL3 just in case.
I have no idea why they would do that.

I think my ZR3s were 7/8 in laser save attempts. I had one failure. So far, my ZR4s are 0/0. Trust me, I'm not complaining.

Im not really looking for JTG every time. Just want that extra couple of seconds when I need it.

Most Lidar around here is less than 1000ft away, as they like to get you around slight bends when you come around, or they hide at the ends of alleyways peaking out.

How does hiding in alleyways work for laser. Laser does not work perpendicular to the line of travel? From the little I know, it must be close to head (rear) on.

^ Indeed, LIDAR is also susceptible to cosine error.

Perhaps the OP meant that they "popped out" of the alleys, or used them for cover?

Focus, my sentiments are exactly mirrored by erickonphoenix.

First, make *sure* that your most often seen LIDAR threats are going to be favorable.

Next, aim to drive a hard bargain - $300 is, IMveryHO, too high of a price to pay, particularly as the ZR4 (which at least has LA Stealth Mode detection capability) is priced so close to his asking price.

1000 ft? depends on the gun. The ZR3 has some problems with the laser atlanta gun. Also the LTi Ultralyte puts up a E-3 error when jammed by it.
