ZR4 on the way. How to cut grill?

I think I can use the new mounting brackets to avoid drilling any metal. The "clamps" look like they will fit into the holes above the cut-out area I intend to make. Then it's justa question of leveling.

I guess I can use the back of the head's flat surface for that?

Don't forget that they need to clamp onto something then tighten down.

Another thing, after you make the cut, if you have a nice flat surface you might be able to use mounting tape to make life easier.

Perhaps a variable speed jig saw with a thick yet fine toothed blade will do the trick.

It's all installed!

I ended up using my rotary tool, and the cutting (drill-looking) bit.

Also, I am not crazy about the shifter display placement, I think it would of looked better in the center stack maybe in one of the pockets. (please don't take this as critism, just my opinion).

The grill has an arc to it, so I had to put the inside clamps as far back as possible and the outside clamps had to be mounted more forward, so the heads would point straight ahead.

This is the wife's car, so I had to defer to her requests. I wanted to put the ZR4 display in the center stack, but she uses that cubby a lot and didn't want anything to limit access. So we settled on the side mount.

Also, I would have preferred to link the X50 and the ZR4, but my wife hates audio alerts from radar detectors and has been spoiled by the remote red led (on her SRX) that alerts her in her other car. For this reason I used the hardwire kit and mounted the remote display in her line-of-sight. She will run the X50 with the volume at "0" and only use the light for alerts.

I think that the front shifter install looks splendid! I wouldn't try to mount the front shifter heads any further back in the grille.

I agree with MEM-TEK and thestanton - that's a great install, particularly given the noted preferences of your wife, the primary driver of that vehicle.

Did anyone notice my green-power-light "delete"?

In her Magnum, we found the green power-on light too bright at night. So I just cut one of the leads on the Bi-color LED and disabled "green". The SRX main display was all we needed to know that the unit was "on".

In the tC, I simply covered the (separate) green light with a small piece of black electrical tape.

Crude, but effective.
