X50 Upgrade - add ZR3 or Replace w/ 9500ix

I was thinking about replacing/upgrading my 8500 X50 with a 9500ix, which I figure would cost me around $350 net. I noticed, though, that the ZR3 is for sale at a reduced price now (closeout?). I got to thinking that since there aren't many speedcams or red light cams around here (MA), and since laser is definitely an issue, spending $250 on the ZR3 might be a much better use of cash. I'd be interested in your opinions. The vehicle is a dark blue Jeep XJ with no front plate and the X50 hardwired and mounted high center above the RVM.

I would say if that is what your budget allows for now what ever you can add will help. I would put all three heads up front in a triangle formation

Save a little more for the latest Zr4 if Escort is the way you want to go.

I would take a X50 AND a ZR3/4 over ANY radar detector (obviously pending the ci which has the ZR4) hands down!

It really all depends on your budget. The X50 will serve you well. I would add the best jammer you can afford and upgrade the RD later.

it depends on the car my Little Zr3's do pretty good on my stang and I don't use 3 in front

I was in the same dilemma since I got the emails about the ZR3 sale. I also am using an X50 and dont see a reason to upgrade the detector because I dont need the GPS and I dont care about lockouts. That being said I came to the conclusion that the ZR3 isnt going to cut it on my truck so I am going to wait to see what the new Blinder product coming out is going to be like and its cost. After that Ill decide. Im not in a hurry. Laser is not a threat in my local area yet but it is coming.
If I was going to put it on my wifes TL/S I would try out the zr3 on sale tho.

A Escort 8500 X50 with an Escort zr3 jammer would be my choice over the 9500xi...Being able to jam laser is a god sent

I just placed my order for the ZR3 Blowout sale last night. Wifes gonna be mad But Ill use the same thing she says to me all the time. "But honey... it was on sale"
Im just wondering how is it going to hook up? I already have my X50 hardwired high and the smartcort on the column. What will I need to change in the wiring?
Ill also have to find a place for the head unit in the cab thats right.
