Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall a thread recently where someone tried to paint the tint film and it turned out extra crappy...no consitency what so ever. Suggesting the surface isn't good for the application.

And, you'd still probably have the same issue of reapplication every so often.

The main point of mixing it in is to be a permanent 1 time solution.

    Veil's 3 biggest problems are:
    1) It is almost impossible to apply w/out streaks
    2) It is hard to know exactly how much to apply.
    3) It is messy and requires extreme caution to not screw up car paint.

A generic sized pre-made Veil film would take care of all 3. User cuts pieces to fit car lights.

I'd pay $200 for a piece of perfectly treated film I could stick onto my lights to avoid streaks, mess, and reapplication.
    It's called 3M Prestige 70 tint

    Specifically:

To do it right, the film will need to be "impregnated" at the time that it's made - or, alternatively, someone will need to enable VEIL to dry to a consistency which will allow not only stretching, but quite a bit of abrasion resistance (as anyone who's put on these films can tell you, getting them to conform over complex curves requires quite a bit of physical manipulation, and the final squeegee to get out the air bubbles isn't going to do the overlying VEIL any favors, either).

So far, this is a technological no-go, in terms of VEIL.

As mentioned, the curvature of the headlights would make it impossible to apply the film correctly. A hot air gun would not help. Applying tint to a some what flat window, and applying tint to a rounded object like a headlight cover are two separate things, plus the fact that the smoothness of the film would hurt the effectiveness of veil, which is why they say don't apply clear paint to the top of the application...

What they need to do is to make it clearer, then you'd be able to apply more layers without it darkening. I'm sure they are already working on this.

Why do you think you need to apply more layers? The manufacturer doesn't recommend it.

still working on the film with new improvements, and yes it does work but really is a PITA to apply. I personally would stick with the liquid veil until I can figure out something.

I didn't say that they "needed" it. I said they'd be able to apply more layers if they wanted to. And the manufacture (currently) doesn't recommend more layers because it would (currently) be too dark
