Testing the veil at home...

This thought just accured to me... I know we all have seen those little laser pointers that can snap onto your keychain, my guess is we all have played around with one. When we shine it on a white surface, the dot is big, bright & bold. When we shine it on black, the dot is small and doesnt appear very bright. If we apply veil to a plate, and point the laser pointer at the plate, will it be big & bold or will it small and lwont be very bright

Dunno.

The pointers, though, work in the visible range - so you can see it.

Laser works in the infrared range.

But if you were able to "see" the laser, it would appear greatly diffused and less visible.
