Hill top speed trap

I been living in Germany for two yrs from '02-'04 and I've manage avoid the photo ticket. I'm living in Oklahoma now for a little less than a yr. I have an illness that require me to make frequent trips from Altus, OK to Wichita falls, TX. I own a radar detector(escort 8500), but I've gotten two speeding tickets, one in TX and one in OK. Both for 18 over the intended speed limit, which is about the same as the speed limit on the Autobahn in Germany which I'm still used to. On both occasion, the police was sitting at a hill top clocking people. My radar detector did not go off until it was too late. Is there anything that I could do to avoid speeding traps like these in the future?(besides slowing down when coming to a hill top?)

Sounds like they were using a Laser gun. Even if you have a radar detector, if you are shot by a laser gun you are screwed. I would get a laser jammer. That way it would give you time to slow down.

first i'm sorry they stuck you in Altus. I spent a little over a year there in loadmaster training. however we never had a problem with cops there at all. its sooooooo flat especially the drive from altus, to lawton there is like a 2" turn the whole way.

I would say upgrade to a V1 mount it up high on the windshield and always keep a car infront of you. Also even with my V1 / Blinder / VEIL combo I still always slow down when I am going up a hill. Once I see the coast is clear I just speed back up and start rollin again.

I only had one friend get at ticket and it was in TX and that is only because he was to lazy to get my radar detector out of my car before we left.

your drive should be fairly easy to avoid the cops just upgrade to a new unit and slow down on them hills!

Same here. Makes sense to beware of what you cannot see!
