I've seen several airplanes down the I-15 from North County and Temecula down to Downtown San Diego, but many could just be military planes flying to the local bases. However, I have run by CHP without Radar Units on, so maybe it isn't entirely military craft after all. I don't know how often they run the Vascar on the freeway, but I have seen the CHP run Ka Radar along those areas mainly (if at all).

VASCAR is used mostly on I-5 between Stockton and the Grapevine. I've traveled that road many times though and hit speeds of 150 and came out of it with 0 tickets. I'd say the odds of getting nailed by VASCAR are fairly small, it's just a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
