wait so the lie will now be patroled by staties? What about suffolk and nassau highway patrol. I can't believe they are giving over full control. Also I have a harder time with the IO radar from the troopers then the lidar of the locals. Do you have a source to confirm this information?

I saw the story also on newsday.com and on channel 4 news too. But I was on expressway today and I saw a 2 suffolk leo highways working by exit 55 so I dont think its in effect yet. cant wait though

Yeah I am still seeing suffolk and nassau LEOs on patrol in the area. It seems like there are still so many of them I am very skeptical if it will ever be all staties.

LOL I can't believe they did it but our sly I/O'ing local highway leo's have been replaced with the local sheriff. The sheriffs dutys have only consisted of transporting prisoners and serving warrent's until now. They are now patroling the expressway but I haven't picked up any radar or lidar? I have looked at 2 of the cars and don't even see any radar equipment.
Anyone get any hits on them for radar or am I going to have to turn my X band back on?

Maybe if Suffolk and Nassau police actually started ticketing people on 495 and sunrise instead of responding to real crimes there wouldn't be budget issue

the sheriffs have taken the control of highway patrol. unfortunately they have a bad rep for being ass holes -- most of the SCPD I know don't even like them

I do 80 miles a day on the LIE...I just noticed the switch to all the Sheriffs in the median, but haven't gotten hit with anything. Seems like most of the time they're just sitting in the median reading their papers or they've already got someone pulled over.

I've still seen some troopers/unmarked cars running lidar the past few weeks though.

Keep us informed to what band of radar guns are being used and how often laser is used?

Will do. I was looking today at the Lidar guys site...I don't believe I saw the gun that I recognized. The gun I've seen seemed like it was two fairly small vertically stacked lenses.
