I was on my way home from work traveling down Sunrise Hwy in suffolk county NY, and all of a sudden I get a POP alert. I travel the same way everyday and haven't had one yet. I slow down a little to 63 ( the average flow of traffic is 68-75) and look around. Coming up on the right lane is a super clean metalic gray crown vic with tinted windows. I have my sunglasses on so I can look without being too obvious and what do I see? Red and blue lights on the dashboard. The car passes and through his rear window I see red and blue lights above the third brake light. I'm pretty sure it's one of suffolk county's new unmarked hwy patrol cars. I may be wrong, but isn't red and blue lights together exclusive to police? Unless this is another coincidence with the pop alert. I've been having quite a few coincidences. The most creative unmarked car that i've seen(with someone pulled over) was a totally tinted out black crown vic with FOR SALE signs on it. While I think it's just a little bit sneaky, I have to give the officer credit for creativity. So i'm thinking that suffolk cops are using pop while moving, or my detector is defective......
Does anyone know what Suffolk County Hwy Patrol uses for speed measurement? I know they use laser as I have seen it many many times, but what else?
