Doh!
Sorry, super-busy yesterday, and wasn't able to check-in.![]()
Hope you've had a good trip!
For the future:
Be careful upon first entering OH from KY. Within the first 50 miles or so, they like to try to trap "those entering."
Also, along 71, northbound "after" Cincinnati, I seem to remember West Lebanon as a township to watch out for. Along 75, northbound "after" Cincinnati, West Chester comes to mind.
And just as a reminder/caution, OH State Bears will use X-band (no, that's not a typo or a mistake), in addition to LIDAR.
Aerial VASCAR is usually easy to spot, just pay attention to white lines drawn either through the main roadway, or along shoulders, at quarter-mile intervals (for a mile - thus, 4 lines, total).
They only "need" timing through one segment to initiate a pull-over and give a valid citation, but typically, they try to time for at least two. So when you come upon these lines, just slow down to the PSL for the stretch ( after all, it's only a mile), which won't be repeated until a few miles thereafter.
Have a safe (and fun) trip!
Last year when we went to Dayton we took 70 W from western PA and I counted 12 cops on the way there, 3 driving opposite side of highway running speed checks CO X (yes X band) and 4 running laser (two from behind!). The other 4 cops were either doing paperwork, had a client, or were chase cars. We left PA at 9am arriving in Dayton at 2pm. That was the most amount of cops I have seen on a road trip ever. If you have out of state plates, consider yourself a big red target! Be safe.
Wow thanks guys great info - I leave in a couple of days so I appreciate it!
I'll be sure to report back!
