Is K-Band common in San Diego / Los Angeles?

Got a few questions:

1. How common is K-Band in the San Diego and Los Angles area?

2. I know that it's in use but I feel like its fading out and being replaced by Ka-Band and LIDAR, is this correct? If this is correct why are police fading out K band?

3. What do you think the ratio of K to KA is 10:90, 20:80, 30:70, 50:50?

4. Sometimes I feel like turning off K band in these areas, do you think this would be appropriate? Has anyone done this?

I get about 1 K band hit every 2 months or so.

Because, the Ka band antennas are smaller, suppliers tell PDs that Ka band is almost undetectable, Ka band and LIDAR are the latest and greatest and because LIDAR is more target specific. That's only a few of the reasons.

In SoCal, I'd say 1:100.

Nope, do not do this. Here are two recent K band encounters I've had of Long Beach PD running K band on SoCal freeways.
