I will be leaving Atlanta heading for Biloxi for a few days. It's been a while since I've been in Alabama on I-85 and I-65 south of Montgomery. Are there any areas or tactics I should be on the look out for?

Sorry I just noticed this. Prolly too late for your trip (hope you didn't get busted!) but for the benefit of others plying the I-85/I-65 area:
Don't get too cocky, but AL State troopers are normally fairly a) sparse and b) lenient on the open highways. I've driven about 400 highway miles since getting my X50 and only seen 1 alert from a patrol vehicle (tied up with a construction detail). Flow of traffic is about 75-80, and if you don't get outside of that envelope and watch your RD, you'll generally be okay.
That said, I-85 between Opelika and Montgomery (mile marker 58 to 0) is a bit of a priority, as that stretch has a lot of leadfoot college kids. So keep an eye peeled, but the good news is rabbits are plentiful.
Inside Montgomery, the MPD is prone to running traps with cars and motorcycles, including some semi-stealth cars. They have construction zones throughout that stretch, and PSLs as low as 50. I personally stay pretty close to PSL unless a traffic situation kind of forces my hand, and even then I'm really careful.
I-65 S of Montgomery is pretty sparse on state troopers, but Greenville PD sometimes works the interstate. Probably about the only trouble spot until you get to the big Bay bridge. If you give in to the temptation to crank it up on the bridge because you think they can't hide on the bridge, remember they hide at the foot of it all the time.
And then you get to Mobile. And they'll bust you. :-) No, seriously, Mobile PD is pretty aggressive on I-65 and I-10, last I was there.
That's as far as I have experience.
Thanks for the info, our trip got postponed so when we do go i have an idea of what to expect.

As I posted elsewhere, Mgm PD is REALLY out there with Ka 34.7 and motorcycles on I-85. Saw three today.
The city is having budget problems. Coincidence?![]()
