    Default Goin' down to Georgia...

    Tomorrow I will be making the trip from Nashville to Atlanta and then down to Savannah. What is GSP like on I-75? What type of speed enforcement is most used. I will keep my speed down because I know there is a larger laser threat. Also is the Southern state more prone to radar than laser? Any tips would be appreciated!

    I think srtga will have some tips for I-16, but be careful around Dublin on I-16 for sure. You probably won't have much trouble inside I-285, but I've seen GSP south of the city on I-75 a good bit.

    Not sure about the northwest part of the state.

    Nice! Dublin was marked more than once on Trapster!

    They were out in force this afternoon, everywhere shooting laser. Stay within 10 of the PSL if you don't have jammers and you should be fine around ATL. I've found the GSP runs a lot of radar south of Atlanta and on I-16.

    Kinda late on this one...

    What everyone else said!

    GSP uses I/O almost exclusively so they WILL GET YOU without a rabbit or a CB.

    Trapster has all the speed traps on I-16 marked. I have so many "triple alerts" (trapster/CB/RD) about the same LEO so often the novelty has worn off!

    Dublin= FUZZ!
    Statesboro=FUZZ!

    Bears hide in the woods in the comedian on I-16.

    Post about your trip when you return!

    I drove on I85 to Atlanta recently and there was only a little bit of radar and no laser.

    Well I'm in Atlanta. (I arrived with the fam. 2 days ago) I was afraid cops were going to be thick because I got 3 Ka hits within an hour of leaving Nashville south on I-24. My first was THP running C/O 34.7 Stalker Ka hidden behind a guard rail in between 2 small hills. That was roughly a mile of detection. 2nd hit was a questionable I/O save. I'm driving about 8 or 9 over and all the sudden I get a medium strength Ka hit at 35.430 GHz. At first I though it was a Cobra even though the strength of the alert was decent but I slowed down to the PSL of 70. About a half mile up the highway I crested a bridge and get hit with I/O Ka. 3 unmarked Tahoes were sitting at the bottom of the hill in the median facing our lane. BTW TN loves to use unmarked SUVs (even though it is obvious they are cops). I saw a couple more unmarks a couple miles down the road just monitoring traffic (waiting to laser one fast car probably). After that I hit the higher elevations of East TN and there was no enforcement. Georgia from Chatt. to ATL was clear as well. I've run my 9500ix mostly in Auto-mode and have only had a handful of falses. I am very impressed with the false alarm suppression in downtown Atlanta! I drive to Savannah tomorrow. Any more tips about Southern Ga?

    I-75 to I-16?

    Henry Co. used to be notorious as did Forsyth. (Not the county. I can't recall what Co. the city of Forsyth is in. There's a big LEO training center there. I did an emergency vehicle operation class there. Teflon skidpad... YEA!) I don't travel N of Macon much anymore...

    I-16 is my territory. One end to the other

    Just be careful through Laurens Co. (Trooper nest there) and Bulloch Co. The area outside of Savannah is also often thick with LEO's. Look out for the big Chatham Co. BMW sedan running radar! No Sh!T

    GSP will sit in the median and hit you with I/O and they'll set up at an angle to the road so you won't get much scatter. A CB or a rabbit is your ONLY defense... But they don't seem to care much if you're only going 75 or so.

    County mounties run C/O so they're not much of a threat.

    Oh yea, LIDAR around Bulloch Co. They'll set up on the opposite side of an overpass and tag you.

    Good luck tomorrow. I'll be surprised if you don't have 2-3 contacts.

    Oh yea, Welcome to Ga

    Yes.

    Sweet! They probably picked it up from a drug bust. What type of Beamer?

    Motorbikes??

    Thanks! I'm loving the weather... it is about 10-15 degrees warmer than in Nashville now. I love 75 degree weather!

    So more radar than laser with I/O from GSP. What frequency?? (33.8, 34.7, 35.5 or K band)
