Default Not many RD users in Northern California?

I got a 9500ix for Christmas, but even in the past I've usually noticed when a car has a RD on the windshield. It seems to me like Northern CA doesn't have the same proliferation of detectors as other areas. Does anyone else in N. CA see this, or am I missing something?

I believe that is true, I've worked at a lot of Silicon Valley companies and none of my co-workers were outfitted with RD.

    Okay-so it's not just me.

Santa Cruz, huh? I have a place in the mountains up off Mt. Hermon Rd. You guys get any of this monster swell we keep hearing about?

Radar Detectors are not nearly as widespread as most people think. I've heard cops say 1 out of every 10 cars uses them, which is complete BS. If you get a group of sports cars together, yeah a lot of them will have detectors, but if you walk through a random mall parking lot you'll be lucky to spot even one.

They may be half right. Replace "every 10 cars" with "every 10 cars I pull over for speeding."

Agreed. I work with about 50 people and I know that only 1 other guy has a detector, which is a V1. (And he claims to lurk here in RD.NET).

Before I didn't pay much attention trying to see RDs in other vehicles. Wasn't much of a thought. But since I got a RD (now have two), I tend to look for them. I don't see many but I do see a few here and there. Sometimes I get a closer look and see at times what it is. Just today I saw one of the Cobras (the kind with the LCD display) in a fancy sport car, and a X-50 in a Ford pickup, about a 1970. Only a few times I have actually seen 2 RDs in a day. These are only for the visual ones actually seen. Most days I just don't see any. From the ones I get a better look, most seem to be Cobra RDs.
I also noticed that most that are listed in the local Craigslist are Cobras. I do see others here and there, but Cobra has been the most listed that I have seen.
So what I'm seeing I'd say not many out there. Also, considering folks I know, I only know 1 other person that has a RD, and know 1 other that had a RD some years ago. So I say not to popular in my area - but have wondered how many are in use that I don't see.
I haven't seen and confirmed another V1 or 9500ix yet, but I have actually been at this maybe 4 month now. I don't count that junk RD I tried for 2 days, years ago.
Once I started to look for RDs in other vehicle, I actually thought I would see more than what I am seeing.

    V1 - Open roads
    9500ix - town
