is photo radar legal in British Columbia?

i see these speed sign cameras that take flashes - but are they fake? i thought it was illegal to use photo radar in bc ever since early 2000's. i was testing one of them and it goes "speed ticket $150" . I was like "bull!" how do you even know its the registered person driving?

We'll see. The thing is about three by four feet digital screen, it take a bright flash and say your speed and a comment "slow Down" or "speed dine $xxx". Things been there for years but first time I've seen it say "fined $150" - I was like WTF I thought this thing was broken because it never gave me Accurate reading and now I just ignore it, except today's little message it gave me. In bc they banned photo in 2002. Redlight is legal u don't mess with those.

Anyhow , assuming worst case scenario - I only care if I get points on my license and could care less about the fine - for places in the states where I think u guys still get photo radar when u get a ticket in the mail it doesn't affect ure points or registered owners points right? It's just a cash cow?

Those speed signs cannot and will not ticket you they are just a warning to all drivers to slow down. They almost always run K band. Just be careful around them as you never know if the police is hiding nearby.

that reminds me. my escort radar went nuts about 1/2 mile away on the 'sign' (kband). But how is it able to pinpoint which car just drove by then? - wouldn't it be lazer ?

Its aimed in a general direction and clocks cars as they come by. The only signs that use laser are nowhere in north america as far as I know.
