MN to Wisconsin/Chicago

Hey guys Im going on a road trip from Minnesota to Chicago going through Wisconsin. We will be using Hwy 94 and 90. I have v1 radar detector, but still new on using it. ANy tips and stuff as far as cops and speeding on my trip? Thanks.

Yup, saw that already. Wisonsin uses the most laser than any thing else, so that means. clear open road + dry roads + laser = no protection = me screwed.

CB radio will help and if you have a GPS or smart phone, use trapster. I know the MN, WI, Chicago area pretty well and good luck man!

For sure on the Speeding around WI Dells!!!
Also once you get in IL Watch by the Waukegan Toll they like to sit on the side of the building there and they love sitting in the center median shooting LIDAR. There is a traffic sign on the West Bound 94 right before the Grand Ave exit that has K radar on it. Also when getting down to the 294-94 split they have another Traffic sign that has K radar on it. That just showed up this morning it just on the curve where the Eden’s Starts. Also not sure if you know this but IL is slowly switching over to a new logo and car style for the IL State Police. The old style White cars with goldish strip down side. New style White Car with Dark Blue or Black IL Shield on Driver and Passenger front doors and some have a Dark Blue or Black strip running down the top part of the side of the car.

Also when you get to parts of Racine County and Kenosha County they have just started Construction on parts of 94 from the Mitchell Interchange all the way to the WI/IL border so some parts are two lanes.

So Im here in Chicago right now...saw couple wisconsin troopers on the way but V1 never alerted. Not even once. I got lots of X, K, and Ka band false. Also lots of "J"
I was running it in A mode the whole time. I got couple laser falses also. Any idea? Im starting to think this radar is bad...
Speed limit was 65 throughout wisconsin, I wass going about 75mph because I still dont feel safe with the v1. And In Chicago the speed limit is 55 but I had to go with the flow which was 80mph...safe?
Also will my v1 pick up lidar? thanks

WI Troopers are somewhat selective on who they hit. You might be okay at 80 in Chicago, but not necessarily. The V1 will pick up LIDAR, but if you get hit, they have your speed.

80 is good as long as your going with traffic since you can see the cops sitting in the middle a mile away and everyone starts brake dancing when they see a LEO. Anything over 75 there start looking at you though TRUST ME!
X there is several spots on the way down and up that will happen and K band I get a few false alerts everyday on the way back and forth. I don't think that your radar is bad. You’re still new to it.
I have only had one "J" out and it happened on the way home yesterday Weird!
I would suggest turning POP OFF (In setup J change to down arrow)and your Ka falsies will be greatly lowered I ran for the first week with Pop on and was getting 3 to 4 falsies on the toll way each way. Turned Pop off and my falsies have gone for now. I do get allot of Laser Falsies (Stupid Infinities).
