    Default I-76 PA turnpike

I will be making a run out east and will be using the PA turnpike from Youngstown to Harrisburg. In the past with an older RD I ended up turning it off because of all of the falses generated bt construction radar and 'your speed is'. Is this all K band ? If so, am I safe turning off K? What are the LEO's using out there?

Is this all K band ?
Probably. Most of the Ka band activity has been reported further East, and I've never even seen any of it myself. Still not a good practice to ignore a Ka alert though. Therefore...

If so, am I safe turning off K?
    ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!
That would be literally as good as no detector.

What are the LEO's using out there?
Mostly K-band. The Turnpike is the only place I've seen the external rear-window mounted antennas; usually they're lazy and just park behind a bridge and leave them C/O which you can pick up for a mile. But there are enough K-band handhelds to keep you alert because they afford the cops better hiding spots and I've only ever seen those operated I/O.

If you didn't know, only stationary radar is legal in PA. They can pace you but they're supposed to follow you for 3/10 mile.

That's why I got a V1. I just mute the alert and don't slow down unless it beeps at me that there's another bogey. With any other detector you just gotta slow down until you've passed the false. Of course if you've never been through there before you don't know what's false and what isn't, so you have to slow down anyway... but it's still better than running the PSL the whole way through.

Be careful through the mountains. Hills and curves really kill your detection, and it's easy to get owned by skilled use of I/O.

Be careful around the numerous overpasses that surface roads take over the Turnpike. About 1/3 of them have a gravel area on the other side of them for obvious purposes. A few of them also have access ramps you need to look up to be sure you're not getting shot in the ass.

I thought the PSP just used Ka for the radar drones they put on the highways and not for speed acquisition purposes, has there been a change, or have I been assuming wrong all this time?

Ka is being actively used by the state police in PA. Heading towards Philly you will run into more Ka in the updated patrol cars. Mainly K though.

Everything is pretty much covered. K band will be going off a lot. Check trapster before you go.

I have heard of trapster and visited the site. What are your opinions of it?
