    Default Watch out Houston-Major Enforcement

I hope this is the right place to post this.

My father is close with a number of law enforcement chiefs and deputies in Houston. He was told the city has them under tremendous and unprecendent pressure to write tickets. In particular in three areas:

    1. Speeding, 5mph + over PSL
    2. Failure to signal lane change
    3. Tailgating/following too closely

    Be vigilant bros!

5 over PSL is new, but they have already slowed freeway traffic down so much they may need to bump the threshold down to meet existing targets. Its a good time to be on your toes. But I'm not sure why they still neglect hwy 225. I never see them out there.

Was it Houston or Dallas that the brass was docking pay for ticket errors so they stopped writing tickets?

Guys in the field tend have a way of setting the threshold to a point appropriate for the road so they don't end up in hot water with a judge for writing BS tickets. Or there's the case from years back where NY motor units lined up 5 abreast @ 55mph when told to write for 1 over, created such a backup with the whole morning rush hour going the PSL they were allowed discretion back. While they may be under pressure, I don't think they'll turn into ticket writing robots, because then fixed unmanned speed cameras would be cheaper.

More proof that enforcement is being done for revenue and not safety reasons. But then I'm preaching to the choir...
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?
