Hmm, I didn't see any new modifications to the red light camera statutes over the past few months...

Every RLC location in Philly has to be approved by the state before they can even think of putting one up. That's why there's only like 15 intersections that actually have the cameras but many cameras at those intersections.

I heard that the Phili cameras are required to be the old film based ones and that the photo blocker spray still works on them. Anybody know for sure?

It's amazing to me how many comments are supporting the cameras on that link...

There is a lot of traffic in the areas near these lights and it becomes very congested around rush hour. Sometimes people get caught in the intersection and go through the light, other times it actually makes sense to piggy-back through the light on the guy in front of you for the flow of traffic. Philadelphia should have more important stuff to worry about than finding more ways to milk money out of their citizens.

Philadelphia is ridiculous with their red-lights. It takes me 10-15 minutes to get from 6th street to I-95 (about 1 mile) on Girard because of all the lights. I have conducted my own mini-research and over 80% of the time I stop at a red light on Girard, nobody is going the other way. It's a huge waste of time and money. At least have a sensor on the lights so they stay green unless there is cross-traffic.

Now they have the new lights near the casino. Guess what? Same story there. Good luck trying to make a left on to Delaware ave from Frankford. I have had to run that light many times after sitting there for 5 minutes.

It's sad to think that we live in a society where more importance is placed on a stupid traffic light than your own common sense. I know that it's ok to drive through an intersection after looking both ways at 3am when there is nobody else around.

Look how indian people do it! haha. No accidents
