    Default Protection in Ireland?

    Hi,
What radar bands are used in Ireland by speed detectors?
I understand that the Redflex/GoSafe use K band.
What other bands do I need to keep an eye on?

    Thanks

    T

Redflex use K band. So do the (very) few fixed GATSO cameras that you see on poles up the country. Mostly in Dublin AFAIK.

That is it as far as radar goes here. You can turn off X and Ka band without worrying. If you have a V1, having Ka enabled while in Euro mode seems to help with detection on K band according to mikeecho. I have not tested this out myself but he has done some serious research lately and found consistently that it does help.

Laser used to be the only threat up until now and you could still run into it if the traffic corps are out doing speed checks so a jammer is still a must here IMO. LI and Blinder are the 2 best bets on this and my Laser Pro Parks are still working fine as there are no new guns out here that can defeat them as of yet.

    Hope this helps .

Thanks. Im getting at lot of X band false alarms from traffic light sensors, so I might turn that off.

Definitely turn that off. No need for it to be on here and it will drive you nuts. It will be a lot lot quieter with it off.
