San Jose is the only city in CA to use them. They are petitioned programs primarily for residential areas. Signs are posted to let their presence be known.

Encinitas down in SD county was investigating its possible implementation back in late 2005. I don't know if it's in use yet down there. Apparently, they were looking to follow the same guidelines used in San Jose.

Son of a *****. Figures the one place in California they have them is where I live. Good thing I'm don't go to SJ residential neighborhoods much.

Do you know what band of radar they use?

I haven't seen any in Encinitas yet, the few times I've been by there. I could go take a trip down and see though... most of the time you just gotta watch out for the CHP on the I-5 using Ka 34.7 Stalkers. I'm not sure what the Encinitas local LEOs use.

San Jose- Branham Lane heading West towards Pearl.
They like to park their motorcycles on the sidewalk next to the resident neighborhood before the intersection.
They will walk out in to the street as you approach to clock you.
Have only seen them there on weekdays.

Also, coming out of Best Buy on to Almaden Exp., one will stand behind a sign and wait for those who make a right turn on red.
