E-Z PASS USERS CAN RECEIVE A SPEEDING TICKET
Thursday, June 22, 2006 - FreeMarketNews.com
In Great Britain, motorists will soon be tracked on camera anywhere they drive, day or night. Their taped movements will be relayed to a central data storage base for study. This doesn't happen in the U.S. yet - although motorists here can get speeding tickets.
As reported in Bottom Line Personal, several states are using the E-Z Pass technology to write speeding tickets – based upon the time it takes a motorist to move between toll booths.
BLP comments: “In effect, you can get a speeding ticket even if you don’t get caught speeding. What’s more, E-Z Pass records have been turned over to law enforcement to track people’s whereabouts, and have been subpoenaed in civil lawsuits, including divorces.” - DS
