EMPHASIS: Statewide Crack Down On Drunk Driving, March 17, 2007
Intoxicated drivers continue to claim hundreds of lives each year in the state of Missouri. In 2005, 274 men, women, and children died on Missouri highways in alcohol-related traffic crashes. From 2003 to the end of 2005, 741 persons were killed on Missouri highways in these crashes.
On March 17, 2007, The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop C, St. Louis (which is made up of 11 counties), along with 36 local police agencies will participate in a statewide effort to rid Missouri highways of intoxicated drivers. The Missouri State Highway Patrol and other law enforcement agencies statewide will utilize either sobriety checkpoints or DWI saturation patrols.
The following agencies will be participating: Arnold Police Dept., Ballwin Police Dept., Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Dept., Bowling Green Police Dept., Bridgeton Police Dept., Chesterfield Police Dept., Creve Coeur Police Dept., Crystal City Police Dept., DeSoto Police Dept., Edmundson Police Dept., Eureka Police Dept., Farmington Police Dept., Ferguson Police Dept., Festus Police Dept., Franklin County Sheriff’s Dept., Hazelwood Police Dept., Herculaneum Police Dept., Jefferson County Sheriff’s Dept., Jennings Police Dept., Lake St. Louis Police Dept., Manchester Police Dept., Maryland Heights Police Dept., O’Fallon Police Dept., Olivette Police Dept., Overland Police Dept., Perryville Police Dept., Pevely Police Dept., St. Charles City Police Dept., St. Charles County Sheriff’s Dept., St. John Police Dept., St. Louis County Police Dept., St. Louis Metro City Police Dept., Town and Country Police Dept., Troy Police Dept., Union Police Dept., and Washington Police Dept.
