Law enforcement agencies from one end of Interstate 4 to the other have launched a four-day traffic enforcement operation on that highway.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers, deputy sheriffs from Volusia, Seminole, Orange, Osceola, Polk and Hillsborough counties, and police officers from several cities along I-4 will target aggressive drivers today through Friday in an operation dubbed "4 Days on 4."

A similar operation in March resulted in more than 2,750 traffic citations being issued.

Almost 60 percent of traffic crashes on I-4 are a result of aggressive driving, authorities said.

Times and locations of the enforcement will vary over the four days. With a zero tolerance policy, officers will not issue warnings.

Deputies target speeders in I-4 crackdownTraffic-enforcement units from the Seminole County Sheriff's Office were out in force this morning on Interstate 4 for the second day of "4 Days on I-4."

Deputies were stopping speeding motorists during the special enforcement operation that is targeting aggressive drivers.

The multi-agency operation, which began Tuesday and runs through Friday, is taking place from Daytona Beach to Tampa. It is the second time for such an operation. The first, in March, resulted in more than 2,750 traffic citations being issued.

More than 60 percent of traffic crashes on I-4 are the result of aggressive driving, which involves multiple offenses including speeding, following too closely and improper lane changes, officials said.
