The Florida Highway Patrol will start using an unmanned marked patrol car placed in specific locations around the area to help deter traffic violations.

The patrol car will be parked in problem areas to help increase trooper visibility. Troopers will also conduct follow up patrols in those areas where the unmanned patrol car was placed

The times and places won’t be announced so the visibility will be more effective. Troopers say they hope it will have an effect in problem areas.

They say the empty patrol car you pass today may be manned by a state trooper tomorrow.

Local PDs have already been doing this, Miami Beach for example.

I'd be thrilled if they'd use Constant On with the unmanned cars. It's when they have it OFF that I get worried because I'm not sure if they've got a guy in the car with IO waiting for me.

yeah theres a city near me (Woodstock) that does it all the time downtown. they always have a city cop car parked with its Kustom KR-10 on. but hey, works for me.

Actually, I was thinking of making a huge-ass sign that said "EMPTY CAR!" and putting it up next to the empty cruiser...maybe next time
