Queensland's first 24-hour fixed speed cameras come on line on Friday.
The devices will be installed at Kangaroo Point in inner-Brisbane and on the Bruce Highway at Burpengary.
Another will go on the Pacific Motorway at Tarragindi next month.
Police Minister Judy Spence says a month-long investigation at the Kangaroo Point site shows speeding is a big problem.
"Every day there was at least one vehicle registering a maximum speed of over 100 kilometres per hour and this is a 60 kilometre [per hour] zone," she said.
"The highest speed recorded was for an individual vehicle was 145kph and the speeding is not just confined to late at night; for example one vehicle was clocked at 120kph at 4:00pm."
