They have these up US-61 in Missouri Just north of Wentzville to Troy, Missouri area. They flash very bright in RED "SLOW DOWN" if you go 6mph over the PSL.

They all work on K band and police love to sit around them and run radar.

they are pointless. they are all over the state and they do nothing. also, police run Ka here so there is no way that the 'your speed is' sign is going to trick a rd user into speeding by and not noticing an officer.

$7,500 dollars, and they do nothing, what a waste of tax dollars.

After about 2 weeks and everyone gets used to them, viola people will speed by them just to see them flash.

With that said: For cops that sit in them: AGAIN useless for the LEO, as a high end RD (V1, X50 etc etc) will show the signal of the sign, and the LEO's separate K/Ka band.

    X2.

On the other hand it's good for testing my RD. We have three of those in town. The LEOs only set up IO traps around the K-band sign, but the other two Ka 34.7 signs are great for testing range and once in a while see how high I can get the display up to. They used to be effective, now I'm more inclined to speed by.

I usually find them to be a fun game. Just go up and down the street a few times to keep watch for the police, and when the coast is clear, make a b line right by it as fast as possible (Scanner on of course).

I saw a 33.8 Ka speed trailer the other day parked by the local university. I went by it with my V1 first. The off axis on it was harder to detect than 34.7, or the V1 just detects 34.7 alot better than 33.8. Noticing that I didnt get as good of range as i normally do, I went by on my bike with my 8500 in spec mode and saw it was 33.813. I also approached it from behind (forward facing test) with my V1 and could get an alert about 1/2 mike away.
Thats the first Ka trailer i've encountered.
