Multi-directional speed radars will be unveiled on high risk country roads around Victoria to curb the Christmas holiday road toll.
The high-tech radars have been installed in 11 police cars, which will monitor roads in areas such as Ballarat, Horsham and Stawell.
Fourteen more of the devices will be introduced in mid-January.
Eventually, they will be fitted in every Victorian police car.
Vicoria Police Assistant Commissioner Ken Lay says the radars should be a deterrent to lead-footed drivers.
"The thing about this stuff is that people who are actually doing the wrong thing on the roads will actually be detected before they even see a police car," he said.
"So it's a warning, particularly as we go into this really dangerous period on our roads, that people just need to slow down on a country road, because we see far too many country people dying on country roads."
