Public Defenders Office Wants Fine Raised By $12.50

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Speeding tickets could cost more in several counties, thanks to the state's money problems.The state-funded Public Defenders Office wants Marshall County commissioners to raise the fine by $12.50.If not, Donna Hargrove said two offices may have to close, possibly in Shelbyville or Fayetteville.County commissioners will have the option to rescind the fee if and when it's no longer needed.Lincoln County already adopted the fee hike.Bedford and Moore counties are next on her list
