Exclamation CAN - Photo radar hits Montreal Today!

Photo radar hits Montreal on Tuesday

A total of 15 units, including permanent photo radar and red light cameras have been set up at 15 of the most "dangerous" locations throughout the province, 6 of those are in Montreal.

For the first 3 months, offenders will only receive a notice in the mail. Starting August 19th, fines will kick in.

Because the units only take pictures of the licence plates, the identity of the driver will not necessarily be known, which is why vehicle owners will not be penalized with demerit points.

Click here for a complete list of where the units are located.

    Hurray!
Last week the police force admitted that because of the downturn of the economy (less people on the road), they will beef up their patrols on the road...then they interview a LEO who admitted that he(and others in his department) was told to increase the # of road violations from 18 to 25 per day!
I couldn't believe it!! Right there on the 6 p.m. news.

I actually saw this steel beast last Sunday, and the only thing that went thru my mind was....kaching, katching...katching...and the questions city hall will ask is.. "How much money do we need today?".

My question is...what type of radar is this? Will my jammer or STi be effective? (for the speed cameras).

    Thanks

With most fixed speed/redlight cameras at intersections that I have seen there are embedded road sensors and no radar.

If there is nothing to detect or jam then no.

Your best bet is some type of GPS device with a camera database then slow down at the voice alerts.

I never thought we'd see it again in Ontario since Bob Rae; but the loser we have now is even worse. I bet within the next 18 months, it will rear it's ugly head here again; all in the name of "Public Safety" : (((

I don't think it'll be back. It was defeated by constitutional arguements, it would take some slick wording to get it back in. Just my opinion thou
