November 24, 2008 Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety Purchases New Lidar Guns for Highway Patrol
MACON - The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety's North Central Region recently purchased two new lidar guns for the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Troop B Headquarter to be used by officers in their troop.
Officers use the lidar guns to calculate the speed a vehicle is traveling. They are more accurate than a regular radar gun, and are capable of focusing on a single vehicle no matter how closely that vehicle is to another moving object.
The goal of the Missouri Coalition is to reduce accidents and fatalities, and speeding is one of the leading causes of accidents on our roadways. The Coalition knows the $5,788.00 price tag is money well spent, as these lidar guns will assist the patrol in enforcing the speed limit.
Captain John Elliott and Lieutenant Eric Olson greatly appreciated receiving the new guns and look forward to getting them in the hands of their field officers.
The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety is comprised of many partners across Missouri who have banned together in an effort to reduce fatalities and save lives on Missouri's roadways.
