Petition To Repeal East Ridge Traffic Camera Ordinance Started
posted December 15, 2009
A petition drive has been started by some East Ridge citizens "in order to repeal the recent ordinance passed by the East Ridge City Council."
The petition is now circulating for East Ridge citizens to read and sign, Kent Whitaker said.
The petition states:
"I, the undersigned, being a resident and concerned citizen of the city of East Ridge, do hereby request that the city council of the city of East Ridge repeal Ordinance No. 838 (traffic cameras) in its entirety."
In addition, a second petition has been started that will be available with the first petition. This version is for area residents that do not live in the East Ridge City limits but do visit, drive through, do business and visit our stores and business, Mr. Whitaker said.
He said area residents "are urged
to sign this petition stating that they too would like Ordinance No. 838 (traffic cameras) to be repealed as it may affect their decision to visit, or due business, within the City of East Ridge."
This version states: "I, the undersigned, being a NON-Resident of East Ridge and concerned citizen, do hereby request that the city council of the city of East Ridge repeal Ordinance No. 838 (traffic cameras) in its entirety as it will affect my decision visit businesses or travel inside the city limits of East Ridge."
Each petition has a space for a printed name, signature and address. It also asks if the signer is a registered voter. Each petition page has room for 20 signatures.
