Three Dead In Accident Involving Drunk Driver

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. - Three people, including two teens, were killed in a car accident involving a drunk driver in Browns Summit Saturday night, according to State Highway Patrol in Greensboro.

Trooper Mitchell Mann confirmed a vehicle driven by a drunk driver was traveling on Fairgrove Church Road off Highway N.C. 150 in Browns Summit when the car ran off the road and hit a tree around 11 p.m. Friday.

Trooper Mann says the driver, Amanda Sperduti, 20, of Winston-Salem, survived the accident and has been charged with DWI, and more charges are pending. She was taken to Moses Cone Hospital for surgery and was listed in stable condition Sunday morning.

Three passengers in the vehicle were killed in the accident. Scott W. Bedwell, 23, of Greensboro, Taylor McCaskill, 18, of Browns Summit and Sascha A. Hoffman, 18, of Whitsett were killed. According to the school Web site, Hoffman is a 2009 graduate of Eastern Guilford High School. McCaskill and Bedwell both graduated from Northeast Guilford High School.
