They are going to lay 10% of the cops off, and if they do the chief said he won't respond to petty crimes anymore. It sounds like scare tactics by the Police chief.

Instead, they'll just go about writing more tickets at $400 per ticket with added-on court and county costs. Traffic cops may have to go on 50% commission.

If anyone in the Oakland area is free to break into a house, steal a tv and checkbooks, go work for the police chief then stash some cash on the side, take a K9 unit for a spin, then lie to one of the chiefs real officers about your identity (well, they won't respond yet becuase all the aforementioned activiity doesn't warrant a police response) then play some obnoxious rap music for the neighborhood at 3 in the morning, go shopping at the 24 hour mart, pay the cashier with fake $100's then a forged check across the street at the mini mart, go back to the 24 hour mart to buy food using stolen food stamps, and don't forget to steal a licence plate on the way out. Extort money from your friend the next day, cut the phone line to said friends house after he threatens to call the cops, then vandalize his car and try to poison him with his own cars exhaust gases in a closed garage, its ok, the police won't bother you.

Yep, I listen to the st. Louis police all the time and calls like "burglar in the building" are usually held 10-20 minuets before they are even dispatched because they are no cars in service. Noise violations usually go unfounded under the supervisors name.
