Wow, they have given the government way to much power up there WTF are they thinking. Letting a cop impound your car for speeding 25mph or 40kmph over PSL? There would not be a car left in Atlanta after a week of having that law. Do they shot you on site for DUI ?

For DUI, you are just about shot! I don't know what the penalties are for sure, but here in Alberta it's something like immediate 3 month suspension plus the possibility of 1 year suspension, tonnes of fines and maybe even 30 day vehicle impoundment. But DUI is a Federal offence but the provinces can add to the penalty as well. Personally I think the harse DUI laws are good, but now BC has reduced DUI from .08 to .05 but being between .05 and .08 has reduced punishment compared to being over .08.

I understand the physics behind "speed kills" but to give the police that much on the spot power is too much!

Perhaps vehicle accidents should have a lot harsher penalties, not the actions that MAY cause an accident. And the circumstances should be weighed as well. Doing 40 over the speed limit is very dangerous and high risk in town, but out on a two way highway the risk is substantially reduced and reduced even further on a divided multi lane freeway. But NOOOO the law makes no distinction.

I got a friggin photo radar ticket a couple months ago for doing 99km/h in a 80km/h zone ON A DIVIDED HIGHWAY!! Not several hundred metres away was the friggin' 100km/h zone! Yeah, I was risking EVERYONE'S life that day.
