I can believe it. A couple years ago I fell soundly asleep for a few seconds and woke up driving 50 MPH on the right shoulder of the Baltimore Beltway - completely past the white line and the rumble strip but somehow still going perfectly straight. If there had been any inconveniently placed bridge pillars there I'd have been screwed. I survived a couple more incidents of extreme fatigue but my schedule is much more regular now and it hasn't been an issue.

I have too feel asleep at the wheel. I can tell you once you wake up from getting the $hatakie scared out of you, you will be awake for the rest of the trip. It just sucks that sometimes it gets to the point that you just pass out.

The only thing I have found to work is keep air flow in the car , keep it cold and try some energy products. Otherwise if those do not work get some sleep.
